Barrow Island Primary School used their annual BEP main bid funding (£500) to support this weeks activities to celebrate British Science Week.
The school used their funding to hire in Professor Pumpernickel who delivered a tailored science show for all of their
classes. He did 3 shows – one for nursery and KS1, one for lower KS2 and one for upper KS2.
The shows lasted an hour each and included flames and explosions which obviously really got the children excited and engaged. Professor Pumpernickel really took the time to back up the ‘show’ element with explanations on the science behind what they were seeing.
Now the children in each class will either take an element of what they saw during the show or do some class research on simple science experiments that they can deliver to their parents on an open afternoon. The remaining funding will help to cover purchasing of materials to support these parent shows.
We think it looks like an exciting Science Week for Barrow Island pupils and what a fantastic use of BEP funding to support this STEM activity which we at certain pupils will not forget in a hurry!
