Building My Skills students meet Minister Jake Berry

September 27, 2018

On Thurday 27th September two Furness Academy Y7 students, Hannah and Maisie, were selected to visit Oxley Developments in Ulverston to meet Jake Berry, Minister for Northern Powerhouse.

The girls, ex Victoria Academy pupils, had taken part and successfully completed the primary Building My Skills Programme in 2017-18 whilst at their Primary School. Now at their new secondary school the girls were invited to tell the minister about the programme, what they learnt and how it will help them moving forward throughout their school careers and beyond.

Jayne Moorby, from Oxley Developments in Ulverston, continues to be an active supporter of the programme and will be delivering check point sessions in schools in 2018/19 as part of the company's ongoing community engagement. Jayne complimented the girls on being excellent representatives for their school by being polite, intelligent and articulate and representing themselves very professionally in front of the minister and senior area representatives

You can read more about the minister's visit in Octobers InCumbria Magazine (page 6-7).
